Algonquin Natural Stone offers 5 basic styles:
Split-face — stone is split with the grain. The finished product shows a deeper hue of the base colour and mineral grain colour highlights if the finished product is faced (made 3 dimensional by chiseling).
Ashlar — the stone is split across the grain. The finished product shows the thin mineral lines or grain against a more subdued base colour.
Ledge Rock — the weathered side of a stone block (either Split-faced or Ashlar) that has been sawn from a stone block. The finished product exhibits all shades of brown.
Field Stone — any thickness is cut from the heart of the stone. The finished product shows the vivid colours normally found at the centre of the stone.
River Rock — the weathered natural colour (usually somewhat subdued) is exposed.
Algonquin offers any style of stone in any thickness– from 1¼“ Thinstone to 3 or 4” Full Bed and up to 10” thick Full Bed.
Any shape is possible but the most popular are “Random” which includes Field Stone circular, “5 Point”, “Square Pattern” (precise height, factory-sawn top and bottom edges, saw-trimmed squared ends), Square Pattern Jumpers (up to 16” in height) and Drystack (precise height, factory-sawn top and bottom edges to ensure absolutely horizontal and parallel lines when installed).
